TL;DR: In Salesforce, "click deploy" usually means ClickDeploy, the point-and-click deployment tool Copado acquired in 2020 and now sells as Copado Essentials. A click deploy compares two orgs, lets you tick the changed components, validates them and deploys, with no change sets and no command line. It is a solid first step off change sets, and you outgrow it once several people ship to the same org.
ClickDeploy was a release management tool from a Sydney-based AppExchange partner, built to move metadata between Salesforce orgs faster than change sets. Copado announced the acquisition on 23 September 2020, when ClickDeploy reported hundreds of customers and more than 100,000 deployments across 30+ countries. Today clickdeploy.io redirects to Copado Essentials, and the AppExchange listing reads "Copado Essentials (formerly ClickDeploy)".
People also use the phrase generically for any one-click Salesforce deployment. Either way the idea is the same: select metadata in a UI and push it to a target org without assembling a change set by hand.
Copado's getting-started guide describes the quick path in five steps, and most click-based tools follow the same shape:
Underneath, these tools call Salesforce's Metadata API, so the platform rules still apply. One is worth knowing: after a successful validation against production, a quick deploy can release the same package without re-running Apex tests, and the Salesforce CLI reference says that validation job ID stays valid for 10 days. To keep each package small, pair the clicks with delta deployments that ship only what changed.
Copado's Essentials page lists three levels:
Per-user pricing works for one admin and adds up quickly for a team. Five people on Essentials Plus come to $1,245 a month on annual billing. Serpent prices per company instead, with unlimited users on its Scale plan at $699 a month; the full breakdown is on our pricing page.
Org-to-org clicking works while one person owns releases. These signals say it is time for a Git-backed pipeline:
Moving to Git does not mean admins have to learn it. A ticket-based tool keeps the click-to-select experience and writes the commits for you, as we show in DevOps for admins without touching Git.
Tekunda is the Salesforce consulting and product company behind Serpent, the DevOps platform it also uses for its own client delivery. Serpent keeps the click workflow admins like: you pick changes in a UI, attach them to a ticket and promote them through your pipeline, while Git, pull requests and Apex tests run underneath. It installs nothing in your org and includes AI code review on every plan, including the free tier. Teams already on Copado can follow our migration path, and more walkthroughs live in the SF Guides library.
Is ClickDeploy still free?
Yes, as Copado Essentials. The free tier covers up to 15 deployments a month for one user, with no credit card.
Is ClickDeploy the same as Copado Essentials?
Yes. Copado acquired ClickDeploy in 2020 and renamed it, and the AppExchange listing still says "formerly ClickDeploy".
Can I click deploy without Git?
Yes. Org-to-org deployments work without a repository, but you give up the shared history that team review and audits depend on.
What is a quick deploy in Salesforce?
It releases a recently validated deployment to production without re-running Apex tests. The validation job ID is valid for 10 days.
