Review Policy

Choose whether a project requires reviewer approval before Serpent can merge a pull request: enforced, optional, or none.

Updated August 22, 2026 · 1 min read

Try it in the demo →

Review policy decides whether a project pull request needs reviewer approval before Serpent can merge it. It applies immediately to every open pull request when you change it.

Review Policy settings with Enforced, Optional per work item, and No review options, plus a policy history log

Set it in the demo

Open Project Settings Review Policy with the "Try it in the demo" button above, then:

  1. Pick a review process

Choose Enforced, Optional - per work item, or No review.

  2. Save the policy

Click Save policy. The new level applies to every open pull request right away.

The three levels

  • Enforced - every pull request requires reviewer approval before Serpent can merge it. Recommended.
  • Optional - per work item - new Work Items can require code review; other pull requests require it only when reviewers are assigned.
  • No review - Serpent does not require approval before merging.

UAT approval is configured separately on each Work Item, independent of this policy.

Policy history

Every change to the policy is logged, so you can see what it was set to and when it changed.
